:: Identification of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease (SCID) in Arabian Horses ::

In 1978, the SCID carrier frequency was at about 28 %. Now, with the available DNA test and some careful breeders, the percentage of carrier is near 15%. Since seriousness and quality are two very important words in our breeding program and for our clients, we have decided to test all our horses for SCID's and that we will post on the web site which horses are clear and, if we have some, which horses are not clear. The horses which are SCID Carrier will be removed from our breeding program.

We have the first results for some of our horses:

For the stallions: Soho Carol, Av Amore, Gionni, Kenelm Antares, Kenelm Alabama, and Kenelm Manhattan are SCID Clear.

For the mares : Malanje, Marcisa, Kenelm Madison, Eden's Esmeralda, Aka kiribati are SCID Clear.

Unfortunately the beautiful Kenelm Evening Fame (Standstorm JC x MSA Evening Song by Parys El Jamaal) is a SCID carrier. We prefer to remove her from our breeding program.
